Once upon a time in a far far away land (Germany) a mad king going by the name of Ludwig II of Bavaria decided to build a gigantic castle for himself.
Centuries later, an American company going by the name of the Walt Disney Company decided to use it as a model for the castle of Sleeping Beauty.
I was lucky enough to go to Bavaria when I was a child and see some of Ludwig’s castle (including this one). While the others were decent and of an average size, this castle (Neuschwanstein Castle) is so big you can see it for miles away (the fact that it is located on the top of a hill also helps).
Because the castle is so big, you can only visit bits and parts of it. Since I was only about 8 or 9 when I visited it, I only remember a few things, the first one being the delicious pretzel I ate on the way, the second one is the throne room because it was freezing cold and both the floor and walls were paved with marble and the last one is the lake when Ludwig allegedly killed himself just next to the castle (frightening, am I right?).
So if anyone of you is interested in castles, Disney or delicious pretzels, I highly encourage you to make the trip.
